More Than Just Miles Video Blogs

In 2012 I set off on my second big project where I would run from Seattle-WA to Daytona Beach-FL to raise awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis. I was never a runner in high school or college. In High School I was known as "Fat Tom" as my weight ballooned up to 265 pounds. You can't really train for running across America either unless you run 20 miles a day for six months but there was something in me that wouldn't let me stop.

I tried to do a video blog each day as I ran. Some days I rested, some days I flew out to work for a couple of days to keep the project funded. All in all though you can follow the More Than Just Miles run through these blogs. Watch my hair grow, my skin tan, and my weight drop as I get deeper into the project and put some miles under my belt. I finished running with a 101 mile push in just under 24 hours for my last day completing the project with 3,191 miles in 161 days on April 13th, 2013 averaging just under 20 miles per day.

Even though I just ran the country I woke up the next day and well.......I felt like running. We ended up raising over $12,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and heaps of awareness through all of the media that presented itself along the adventure. Plus I made hundreds of new friends.

I'd like to thank everyone involved in this project especially Timothy Ettridge for being my support driver and dealing with my stinky and sweaty smells while sleeping in my mini van.
